Wednesday 6:30pm - 9:30pm (starts Sept 26 for 10 wks)

This course is designed to give students a basic foundation in the practice and techniques of watercolour painting. A series of hands-on projects will include painting the still life from observation, painting the human figure and working from visual memory and abstraction. Particular attention will be given to preparing a surface for watercolour, colour harmonies, washes and transparencies, as well as traditional and experimental watercolour techniques. The lecture component of the class will focus on the role of watercolour in art history. No prerequisite.
